VERBS - Easy

What is a Verb? It is to do.Verbs are action words. They are the engines of your sentences.


Verbs are words that express action or doing, state or condition of 'being'. Some verbs describe ownership. A single verb consists of one word. Compound verbs have two parts. Verbs are the only words that change according to tense - the time that an action takes place.

Present Tense

They play. They are playing.

Past Tense

They played. They have played.

Future Tense

I shall play. They will play.

Exercise 1. Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb.

1. Take your umbrella. It (rain) now.

2. The aeroplanes (fly) over my house every day.

3. She (already lock) the front door of her car..

4.It's all dark now. Someone (switch) off the lights.
